No New Posts The Great Hall

The Great Hall is a large hall with four long tables where students of each House sit at during mealtimes, as well as the staff table at the front, where the entire Hogwarts staff sits. There is a throne-like chair in the centre of the table where the current Headmaster or Headmistress sits. The ceiling of the Great Hall is covered with candles and it is enchanted to look like the sky above.

No New Posts The Library

The Hogwarts Library is located off of a corridor on the first-floor of Hogwarts Castle and contains tens of thousands of books on thousands of shelves. Overseen by Madam Irma Pince, the library is where students can go to peruse or borrow books to supplement their studies (or for personal enjoyment). The library closes at 8:00 pm.

No New Posts Gryffindor Tower

The entrance to the common room is located behind the portrait of the Fat Lady at the end of the Fat Lady's Corridor on the seventh-floor of Hogwarts Castle. A password is required to enter it. A circular hole is behind the painting leading to the common room. Two staircases lead to the female and male dormitories respectively.

No New Posts Slytherin Dungeon

The entrance to the common room is located behind a stone wall in the dungeons of Hogwarts Castle. A password is required to enter it; whereupon a passage is revealed leading to the common room. The password to the common room changes every fortnight, and it is posted on the noticeboard. The girls' and boys' dormitories are just off the common room.

No New Posts Ravenclaw Tower

The entrance to the common room is located on the west side of Hogwarts at the top of a spiral staircase, located on the fifth floor, and is a door without a doorknob or keyhole, but a bronze knocker in the shape of an eagle. In order to enter the room, a person must answer a riddle asked by the eagle knocker; if they answer incorrectly, they must wait for someone else who gets it right. The entrance to the Ravenclaw dormitories are also located in the Tower, beside a statue of Rowena Ravenclaw.

No New Posts Hufflepuff Basement

The entrance to the common room is located "in a nook on the right hand side of the kitchen corridor", concealed behind a stack of barrels. In order to reveal the entrance, no password is required. Instead, one must tap the barrel two from the bottom, middle of the second row, in the rhythm of ‘Helga Hufflepuff’, which will make the lid swing open, exposing a passageway that will lead to the basement when crawled through. However, if the wrong lid is tapped or the wrong rhythm is used, the intruder will be doused in vinegar and barred access. The Hufflepuff dormitories are also located in the cellar and have perfectly circular doors, with lots of little underground tunnels leading off from the common room.

No New Posts The Quad

The Quad (also known as the Paved Courtyard) is a courtyard located on the Hogwarts Castle exterior area. It is connected to the Viaduct and the Boathouse. Four towers are located at either corner of this courtyard: The Grand Staircase Tower, Gryffindor Tower, North Tower and Stone Bridge Tower; and the Hospital Tower and Suspension Bridge Towers are located in the middle of two different sides. Gobstones players usually come into this courtyard to play "Snake Pit" and it is home to a Talking Gargoyle. This courtyard is also home to the Slytherin Duelling Club. The Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh floor Corridors pass right next to this courtyard. A balcony is known to circulate this courtyard.

No New Posts The Quidditch Pitch

Hogwarts has its own Quidditch pitch where Quidditch teams could practice, hold try-outs and play matches against each other. Each year will see a total of six inter-house matches (each house competing for the Quidditch Cup), along with numerous training sessions by each house team.

The stands surrounding the pitch are decorated differently for each Quidditch match at Hogwarts. Every second stand would be decorated with the colors of one team, and every other stand with the colors of the opposing team. Spectators would sit in between these stands.

No New Posts The Forbidden Forest

The Forbidden Forest, also known as the Dark Forest, borders the edges of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry grounds.

The forest is a very old place that holds many secrets and houses many creatures, some dark and Dangerous, others friendly. The trees in the forest are considered ancient, they are dense and rough looking from years of exposure to the elements.

As the forest's name suggests, it is strictly off limits to students — except in the case of detention, or Care of Magical Creatures lessons that occasionally take place there. Of course, with the various dangerous creatures living in the Forest, few students would even want to venture into it. Black flowers are known to grow in the forest.

No New Posts The Black Lake

A large body of water, freshwater and landlocked, located to the south of Hogwarts Castle. It is about half a mile in diameter and the castle's plumbing network drains into it.

Every school year at Hogwarts, after the Hogwarts Express arrives at Hogsmeade Station, Professors have the honor to calls the first years to follow him to the lake shore and the magic boats. Whereupon the professor chosen occupies one boat and each other boat carries up to four students. The boats then self-propels across the lake to a dock under Hogwarts Castle as per tradition.

No New Posts Weasley's Wizard Wheezes

This is an extension of the Diagon Alley Store. It is connected to the main store via the Floo Network so George or Fred may travel back and forth as they see fit. It sells all the products they have become famous for and while most the students love it Headmistress McGonagall doesn't want some of the products to be used at the school. She however has not forbid them either.

No New Posts Honeydukes Sweet Shop

A sweetshop, owned by Ambrosius Flume and his wife, which is filled with "shelves upon shelves of the most succulent-looking sweets imaginable." In addition to the standard wizarding candy that is sold there, the owners also make their own fudge and chocolate. For obvious reasons, the shop is quite a popular destination for Hogwarts students when visiting Hogsmeade on the weekends.

No New Posts The Three Broomsticks

The Three Broomsticks is a popular inn and pub in the all wizarding village of Hogsmeade and is often frequented by students from the neighbouring Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The inn is often warm, crowded, and a bit smoky, but clean and welcoming.

A mirror behind the bar reflects the cosy atmosphere, and drinks such as Butterbeer and Firewhiskey are served in glasses and in foaming pewter tankards, as well as gillywater, mulled mead, red currant rum, and even cherry syrup and soda with ice and an umbrella. The Three Broomsticks is owned and operated by Madam Rosmerta.

No New Posts Madam Puddifoots

A small, cramped tea shop with decor on the tacky side of frilly (such as floating golden cherubs throwing pink confetti), located just off High Street. The only Hogwarts students who seem to patronize the place are trysting couples.

No New Posts The Shrieking Shack

Rumored to be the most haunted building in Britain, the Shrieking Shack is a favorite stop on any Hogsmeade visit. However, the wails that were once heard emanating from this creepy building have not been heard for some time, the Hogwarts ghosts are always eager to tell you about the 'bad crowd' that frequent the place and warn students to stay away.

No New Posts The Hog's Head Inn

Located a block or so off High Street, the Hog's Head Inn has been a fixture of Hogsmeade for hundreds of years. A worn-out wooden sign hangs over the door, advertising with a "wild boar's severed head leaking blood onto the white cloth around it." It's known for its cheapness, at least relative to the Three Broomsticks down the street, and attracts a "shall we say... interesting clientele," at least according to Albus Dumbledore. The bartender, for at least twenty years, has been Albus's brother, Aberforth Dumbledore.

No New Posts The Leaky Cauldron

The Leaky Cauldron is "dark and shabby" but welcoming. The main room on the ground floor has a bar and quite a few tables, and down the narrow hall from here is a private parlor, also with a fireplace.

From the ground floor, a "handsome wooden staircase" leads up to the guest rooms, of which there are at least five and almost certainly more. The rooms have brass numbers on the doors and contain comfortable beds, polished oak furniture, and a fireplace and a mirror that talks in a "wheezy voice." From the windows, both Charing Cross Road (on the Muggle side) and Diagon Alley (on the wizarding side) can be heard.

To get to Diagon Alley, one must go through the Leaky Cauldron.

No New Posts Diagon Alley

Tapping just the right brick in the wall behind the Leaky Cauldron in London ("Three up...two across...") will reveal an archway which is a portal into Diagon Alley, a long cobbled street where is to be found a strange and exciting assortment of shops and restaurants. It is unquestionably the hub of commerce in the British wizarding world, with virtually every wizarding business stationed there. Consequently, the demand for space here is steep, and rent costs "loads of Galleons."

No New Posts Knockturn Alley

Just around the corner from Diagon Alley lies a dark, twisting alleyway devoted to the Dark Arts: Knockturn Alley. It's a place that the Weasley children are not allowed in, and with good reason; not only are the wares sold their a bit dodgy, but the wizards hanging around behave fairly suspiciously as well. From the shops and the street vendors one can purchase, among other things, shrunken heads, poisonous candles, human-looking fingernails, and Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent.

No New Posts King's Cross Station

King's Cross Station is considered one of the main train stations to serve London, England. Students of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry take the scarlet steam engine named the Hogwarts Express to Hogwarts from Platform 9¾ on 1 September at 11 AM sharp. To get to Platform 9 3/4, you run straight at the wall between 9 and 10. It also serves as a major intercity and commuter rail hub for Muggles going to North London or Yorkshire and the North East and Scotland.

No New Posts Mysterium

This place looks a little run down. It does have a sign outside that is faded but legible. It reads 'Fortunes Told'. When you enter the inside is a strange mixture of the modern and ancient but it looks like you would expect a fortune teller's shop to look. It is heavily curtained and has all sorts of symbols on the different hangings. It has a feel of power and oddity.
