History:
Elois was born into a single parent household. Her mother, who was a witch, died in childbirth. Her mother never told her father that she was a witch. Her father hardly ever smiled as he moved them from London to France as he was assigned to the base there. He demanded perfection in almost anything she did. He kept her in line with the same discipline that he used with his troops, just different tactics.
She learned at an early age to keep her room picked up along with the other living areas. The punishment for things out of place was severe. What she never told her father was that at times, the cleaning seemed to do itself. She also neglected to tell him that she saw images in reflective surfaces which actually came true. She had very few friends until she entered into grade school. During her childhood, she often wondered what her father was thinking about with his serious nature. She would occasionally overhear some of his surface thoughts however it was mostly feelings of anger, sadness, and hopelessness. She did her best to make sure that he was happy with what she was doing.
As she entered into grade school, her disciplined lifestyle helped her achieve great success. She got above average marks though her serious nature drew most of her classmates away. She retreated into creating worlds to escape being the butt of everyone’s jokes. She could sometimes hear the thoughts of her classmates however once again it was mostly the feelings she got from them. She was able to tune the teasing out most of the time, unless it was physically directed at her. Those worlds, she created, came alive, especially when she was alone. She knew her life at school would only get worse if her classmates knew. Her father caught wind of all of this, which he quickly snuffed out. Fantasy had no place in his household.
She was transferred to an all girls boarding school after her father discovered her troubles with the other kids. He knew that the change of scenery would do her good. She made a couple of older friends. She meshed better with them as those in her class tended to be a little immature. The one thing that seemed to stick with her were the images, hearing occasionally people’s thoughts though mostly feelings as well as things seeming to magically take care of themselves. She often laughed it off it was ever brought to her attention.
While on summer holiday at home when she turned 11, the strangest thing happened. An owl came to their home dropping off a letter to Beauxbatons. She thought it was some sort of joke as she tossed the letter in the trash. There was no way that she was a witch for magic did not exist. She would receive a letter almost everyday. She tossed them in the trash until her father got ahold of them. His questions caused her pain as they went on for hours as his hatred seeped into her every pore. She had never seen him this angry as when he found out that she and her mother kept secrets from him. She was sent to her room, only to cry herself to sleep.
She was grounded for a week in her room, still feeling the pain and hatred. She only saw her father at meal times when he delivered her bread and water. He refused to speak a word to her. The letters seemed to keep pouring in as they filled her room. She was defeated as she spent all of her days curled up on her bed, moving only to eat and relieve herself.
After she had lost all hope, there was a knock on her door. Her father told her to pack all of her things as she was going to be moving in with her Aunt and Uncle in Northern France. He told her that after today, she was disowned from the family. Tears streamed down her face as her hands shook while taking everything important that she could pack into three bags. She was handed cab fare and a plane ticket. She watched as the house she grew up in faded away. She knew that this was the last time that she would ever see her father.
Her Aunt and Uncle met her at the airport. They spoke kindly to her, telling her that all of this will blow over with her father. They explained to her that her mother meant say something about her being a witch, however the time was never right. They were proud that Elois was carrying on the family tradition. She settled into her room that she shared with her cousin, Sophia.
She hid her feelings her family as she tried to settle into her new home. She could feel the love and worry they had for her as her space was given. The words of her father settled deep into her heart as she was a lair like her mother. The rest of the summer oddly seemed to fly by as she got her school supplies than off to learn about magic. Her adopted family kept her busy as she discovered she was rather curious to what they were doing. She kept her wits about her as she embarked on this new adventure.
Life at school was busy. It was hard at first as she started to learn in depth part of her world that she just discovered. She struggled to catch up though she made quick friends who helped her. It was during these times that she learned about Legilimency for when she read people’s minds, mainly focusing on feelings, and being a Seer. She was tutored along the way on how best to control these gifts of hers. It was a relief to choose when she got to read minds and feel others feelings. She was able to channel her visions into something constructive. She learned about the different tools of the trade. Many of her classmates asked her for readings as she got more confident in reading symbols and signs. She found that she also had a love of breaking curses when she got the chance. Her abilities impressed the professor there so much that she was offered a job in that field after she graduated.
As the years rolled on, she settled nicely into her life. She missed her father dearly however was grateful that she was taken in by such loving family. She often wondered where the time goes as she was graduating from Beauxbatons. She held a position at the French Ministry of Magic for many years as a Seer. She also found herself as an extra body when it came to investigating crimes with Legilimancy and Empathic abilities. She was lent out of other parts of the world when they needed help. Her name spread like wildfire with how accurate her visions were.
She found that she was rather tired of her talents being exploited by the time she was almost 30. She was about to retire from the French Ministry when she got an owl from the headmistress at Hogwarts. She was rather surprised that she was asked for a tour and interview to be the new Divinations teacher. She decided to take up the offer given by Professor McGonagall. She received an owl three weeks later offering her the job. She did not accept right away as she took the time to do what was best for her. In the end, she took up the offer to be a professor on the conditions that she would be asked before Ministries borrowed her as well as to teach those with natural gifts of being a Seer. Her terms were meet. She decided to build her own curriculum from the ground up, keeping a few things from the previous professor.
