Gamer Tag: ShadowZero
Name: Neville Longbottom
Age/Sex: Male
Birthday: July 30th
Blood Status: Pureblood
House: Formerly of Gryffindor
Wand: Chestnut
Occupation: Professor of Herbology
Year: N/A
Family: Longbottom
Appearance: (At least one full, detailed paragraph)
Personality: Neville likes Felix Felicis and he likes PlayWizard. He also likes Herbology. What more is there to say? Well, there is a bit more. Care to listen?
Neville does not put much stock in prophecies or old legends. He sees that as the preserve of the superstitious. He also sees it as a tired old storytelling device that should be consigned to the dustbin of history. Unfortunately, he does not have the luxury of ignoring it. Through a twist of fate best described as strange, Neville Longbottom is the chosen one.
How did he react to bearing such a lofty title? Not very well. He does not want anything to do with prophecies or fighting evil wizards. Neville just wants to live a normal wizarding life, maybe find a normal wizard wife, and have some normal wizard children to keep his bloodline going.
History:
The boy who lived...that’s a funny thing about life and the choices of one person. He had two choices. One boy or another. He chose Neville Longbottom. It was tragic but his grandmother was there for him after his parents were violently killed by Voldemort....
Despite his relative youth, Neville has already had a distinguished career at Hogwarts. In spite of his wish for a quiet life, he accumulated a list of feats that lesser wizards would (and did) envy. He was famous for protecting the Philosopher's Stone from Voldemort, solving the age-old riddle of the Chamber of Secrets, slaying Slytherin's Basilisk, winning the Tri-Wizard Tournament while facing Beauxbaton's champion Mirelle and Durmstrang's champion Viktor Krum. Perhaps his greatest achievement was raising Dumbledore's Army to defy Voldemort and his followers when they made a play for supreme magical power in the seventh year. This defiance cost Neville his life because the final Horcrux turned out to be Neville himself, but he sacrificed himself to stop the maniacal wizard from making his ambitions come to pass. At the end of all things, instead of choosing to pass on into the afterlife, he chose to remain in the corporeal world.
After the climactic clash with Voldemort, Neville Longbottom graduated, spent some time healing, and took some time off to see the world he helped save. He spent a year traveling and learning about the non-magical world. He learned about an innovation called the Internet, about "gentlemen's magazines", and about a little plant called marijuana. Marijuana reminded him of Felix Felicis, so the transition was not too hard... minus the lack of luck-boosting effect.
Neville returned to Magical Britain when his grandmother Augusta Longbottom died. He was told that an Auror position was available for him when he came of age to claim it. That news did not please him at all. He thought he had seen the last of evil mages, but apparently some were still running around after Voldemort's defeat. Why was it his job to clean them up?
Still, he served as an Auror for a short time before taking a job as Professor of Herbology, a job he found to be much more to his liking. There were no evil wizards trying to kill him, no curses to worry about, and the comfort and security of a professor's position. There are also cute female professors on the faculty, so Neville is certain not to go anywhere.
